History of bilateral relations

Togo has been independent since 27 April 1960. It was recognised as such by Switzerland right away. In the same year, the two states established diplomatic relations. On the Swiss side, these relations have been managed since 26 September 1960 by the Swiss embassy in Accra (Ghana). In 1972, the Togolese Republic opened a consulate in Switzerland, which it later transformed into a permanent mission to the United Nations. This mission is also accredited as an embassy in Switzerland.
