Since 2006, the Swiss ambassador in Paris has also been accredited to the Principality. Contacts between the two States at the international level have mainly taken place within the United Nations (UN), the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Organisation of Francophonie (IOF).
The last official visit by Prince Albert II to Switzerland was in May 2007. He also came to Switzerland in 2010 during the Francophonie Summit in Montreux. The head of the FDFA, who was the President of the Swiss Confederation at the time, travelled to the Principality of Monaco in December 2014 for the opening of the 127th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
