Ukraine East Europe Foundation (EEF) - Building capacity of local CSOs to provide protection services to women and minorities
Women and minorities in Ukraine are more vulnerable to GBV due to the conflict, and at the same time the state's protection services are overwhelmed and understaffed. The goal is to strengthen the protection mechanisms by funding 15 women's rights and LGBTQI+ and Roma organisations, who will enhance the protection both at individual and systemic levels. East Europe Foundation will manage the grants and provide capacity building to make these organisations more sustainable.

Contexto | Strong and resilient local capacity is essential for delivering quality services and sustaining the humanitarian response in Ukraine considering the scale of needs in the areas of protection. Local NGOs are very agile and have been playing a key role in the response from the very beginning, including well established feminist organisaitons who have pivoted to serve populations affected by the conflict. Yet they are often excluded from humanitarian funding, which is not suited to their small size, and because application procedures are complex. |
Objetivos | Improved protection environment/reduced exposure through more protection services provided by local civil society organisations to vulnerable women and minorities. |

Resultados |
Resultados previstos: Resultados de las fases anteriores: All international humanitarian agencies agree that local civil society organisations are playing an essential role in protection work, in particular in the protection of vulnerable women, and especially as state services are overburdened. Yet according to the Protection Cluster, as of May 2022 only 1% of humanitarian funding for Ukraine goes directly to local CSOs. Other minorities, such as Roma or LGBTQI+ have CSOs dedicated to their support, but these have not been included for humanitarian financing. |
