In 2019, the Artizon Museum, the former Bridgestone Museum of Art, acquired twenty-four works by Paul Klee (1879–1940), a major Swiss artist of the first half of the twentieth century. This group of works from the 1910s to the 1930s provides a comprehensive perspective into most aspects of the artist’s oeuvre, and it may be one of the most distinguished collections of Klee’s work in the world in both quantity and quality. This special exhibition will present twenty-five works by Klee: the twenty-four newly acquired paintings, plus Klee’s “Island” (1932), which had already been part of the museum’s collection.
