Treatment Plant for Domestic Septage and Industrial Waste in Vati, Limassol

The septage collected by tankers from overflowing absorption pits in some areas Limassol, was disposed in lagoons in Vati area, causing pollution of the water of the Polemidia Dam. The project is expected to close the existing septage reception area which negatively affected the quality of the water dam and the termination of the infiltration of untreated waste to the dam, and construct of a new treatment plant for the domestic septage, industrial waste surplus activated sludge and leachate from the rehabilitation of the uncontrolled landfill.

The project aims at upgrading the Technical Vocational Training system in Cyprus. It supports the development of modern training packages, the development and installation of training facilities in renewable energy and energy conservation, and two Virtual Reality and Simulation Labo-ratories.

A center for the promotion of cultural exchange in Cyprus

Thanks to this project, an abandoned house in the Cypriot buffer zone was acquired, completely renovated and converted to create a social and cultural centre. The centre opened its doors at the beginning of May 2011 and has since hosted numerous activities topromote dialogue between the local population groups. In so doing it is making an important contribution to reconciliation and peace building in Cyprus.
