This year, the Biennale will feature a Swiss Special Swiss Program, which will include a series of performative workshops from 3 to 5 October 2024.

The Swiss Special Program for the Gwangju Biennale 2024 will create immersive participatory experiences featuring artists San Keller, Maya Minder, !Mediengruppe Bitnik, and the Small Projects for Coming Communities. This three-day initiative is centered around artistic scores, fostering transcultural dialogue and exchange with the audience and diverse communities. Utilizing scores from music, poetry, and visual arts—such as the “Event Scores” from Fluxus—participants will engage in activities that redefine the relationship between art, artists, and the audience in an active and participatory manner. Attendees of the Gwangju Biennale will become integral members of the project’s communities.

The Swiss Special Program is curated by OnCurating (Zurich) in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Seoul and supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
