26.08.2024 - Developments in the region
The Swiss Embassy in Israel is monitoring the situation in the region very closely. The development of the situation is highly uncertain and a significant deterioration of the security situation is possible at any time. Please follow the FDFA's travel advice and inform yourself about the current situation and follow the instructions of the local authorities. (www.oref.org.il/en - the link only works in Israel).
We advise against tourist and other non-urgent travel to Israel. Travelling to individual parts of the country is generally not recommended (see chapter Specific regional risks FDFA's travel advice travel advice of the FDFA).
If you have to travel to Israel for compelling reasons, find out about the current situation in the media and from a local trusted person before and during your trip. Avoid demonstrations and large gatherings of people of any kind and follow the instructions of the local authorities (www.oref.org.il/en - the link only works in Israel). Restrict travelling within the country to the minimum necessary and clarify the security situation in advance.
The FDFA does not organise the departure of Swiss nationals. The decision to leave a crisis region is made voluntarily, at the traveller's own risk and expense. Information on flight connections, which can be quickly reduced in the event of a deterioration in the situation, is provided by the airlines. Swiss nationals wishing to leave the country are therefore advised to contact the airlines and tour operators for information on departure options.
The Swiss Embassy in Tel Aviv is open and continues to provide its usual services. However, in the event of a deterioration of the situation, this embassy has only very limited possibilities to provide emergency assistance.
In order to ensure communication, it is important that you keep your contact and travel details up to date in the Travel Admin App Travel Admin App or with the Swiss representation you are registered with. In an emergency, you can contact the FDFA helpline: +41 800 24 7 365 or 0 800 24 7 365.
