A Swiss Gaze on Budapest – Photo Exhibition at Városháza tér
The program was launched through the opening of a photo exhibition on Városháza tér, organized in collaboration with the Budapest City Council. Visitors are invited to discover the city through the lens of Vincent Baumgartner, a Swiss photographer who has been living and working in Budapest for several years. The exhibition is open to the public and accessible day and night until 5th June.
City Rally and Prize Draw: Explore Swiss Traces
Running alongside the exhibition, there is an interactive city rally, designed for locals and visitors alike. Participants win exciting prizes, like a trip to Switzerland, by visiting sites connected to Switzerland in Budapest – with the help of an interactive map – taking selfies and sharing the photographic evidence of their visit on our Facebook event. The rally highlights locations with Swiss historical relevance, from architectural landmarks to cultural institutions and humanitarian legacies. Participation is free, all details are available on the Embassy’s webpage.
Swiss Walks with hosszúlépés.járunk? the Carl Lutz Foundation and the Zachor Foundation:
To complement the visual and playful aspects of the programme, the Embassy is also partnering with local cultural initiative hosszúlépés.járunk? to offer two guided walking tours focusing on Carl Lutz, the Swiss Vice Consul who saved tens of thousands of Hungarians persecuted as Jews during World War II. These walks invite participants to reflect on a deeply human chapter of Swiss-Hungarian history, retracing the footsteps and courageous actions of Lutz during the Holocaust.
- Saturday, 24 May 2025, 10:00 – Carl Lutz Walk (Hungarian only)
- Monday, 26 May 2025, 17:00 – Carl Lutz Walk (Hungarian only)
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required (budapest.rsvp@eda.admin.ch). Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The walks will last approximately 1.5 hours, and the meeting point will be shared upon registration. Visits to the Glasshouse with the Zachor Foundation are planned for June, stay tuned!
Swiss economic presence – 30 years of Swisscham Hungary
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Swisscham Hungary, commemorating the longstanding Swiss business presence in Budapest. The Swiss Hungarian Chamber of Commerce is celebrating this anniversary through a series of thematic events throughout the whole year.
Another highlight of the “Switzerland in Budapest 2025” programme will be the Swiss Picnic in mid-June in the garden of the Embassy of Switzerland. The Picnic will offer Budapesters an opportunity to experience the taste of Swiss cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. The event will be open to the public upon registration, the modalities of which will be announced in the beginning of June.
